FIRST GRADERS FEAST AND BARTER DAY
Deanna Hood/Scott Riggs
Monday, December 04, 2017

After a month-long unit over Native Americans and the Pilgrims voyage to America, the First Grade classes of Mrs. Linhorst, Ms. Reed, Miss Reineri and Ms. Hood had a Feast and Barter Day a few days before Thanksgiving. The students learned about Squanto, the Mayflower journey, Native American symbols, turkeys and compared the lives of the Pilgrims and Native Americans. The students made their own handmade items to barter, and the teachers made the feast! Some of the kids got to try new foods and drinks and they all had fun negotiating their trades!!
