Cold and Flu Information From the Hillsboro R3 Nursing Staff
It is that time of year! 🤒 😷 😴
We seem to have hit the peak of cold and flu season in our area. While the flu and colds are common illnesses this time of year, there are some things as parents, staff, students and patrons of the Hillsboro R3 School District, we can do to help prevent the spread.
👏1. Handwashing. Good old fashioned soap and water is the best way to prevent illness. While hand sanitizer is okay if you have accidentally coughed in your hand, proper washing with soap and water is still the best method of prevention.
🤒 2. Do not send your child to school if they have had a fever over 100 within the last 24 hours. This is without medication. If your child complains of not feeling well, please take their temperature before sending them to school.
❗️3. Students must be fever, vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school.
🤧 4. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze using the elbow technique. Teach this technique to your child also!
📌5. Keep common surfaces in your home clean using disinfectant wipes if someone in your home is sick.
The school district works hard to keep the school disinfected and clean. Doing your part can help us be a more healthy school district. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your child's building nurse and thank you for your support of the Hillsboro R3 Nursing Department.
