As we continue to plan for the 2021-2022 school year we wanted to share some important
information regarding virtual learning. At this time, we will not be offering an in-house virtual
option, meaning Hillsboro teachers will not be teaching virtually. The school district will utilize
an outside vendor to teach our virtual learners.
We are planning to use MOCAP providers to deliver instruction. MOCAP is a law that allows
students, for whom a team has determined virtual instruction is in their “best educational
interest”, to sign up for virtual classes with an outside vendor. Please reflect on the following
when considering MOCAP. Student demonstrates time-management skills that indicate he/she is capable of submitting assignments and completing course requirements with minimal
● Student has demonstrated persistence in overcoming obstacles and willingness to seek
assistance when needed.
● Student has necessary computer or technical skills to succeed in virtual courses.
● Consideration of the student’s previous success in virtual coursework.
Students who were unsuccessful in virtual learning during the 2020-2021 school year will not be eligible to participate in virtual learning during the 2021-2022 school year.
Additional information regarding MOCAP can be found using the link provided at the bottom of
our district website.
