The Hillsboro Elementary 4th Grade Rockin' Hawks Choir is wrapping up the 2016-2017 year on a "HIGH NOTE." On May 6, the choir participated in the Six Flags Music Festival where they performed a couple songs for 3 judges. The choir earned a "SUPERIOR" rating (the highest rating) from all 3 judges. Students set a goal at the beginning of the year to earn that rating at the Six Flags Music Festival. They were so excited when they achieved their goal!
The choir, directed by Mrs. Amy M. Smith, had several other performances in May. On May 16, they performed at an assembly for the rest of the elementary students and staff. Ms. Seyfarth, a third grad teacher, said, "The choir sounded really good! That was the best choir yet." Saturday, May 20 was a day of community service for these young singers. They started the day off with singing at the DeSoto Farmers' Market in DeSoto, then performed at the Hillsboro Armed Forces Ceremony at the Jefferson County Administration Building. They ended their evening singing at the Benefit/Trivia for Hillsboro Elementary Nurse Dawn Bryan.
Members of the 2016-2017 Rockin' Hawks Choir have made tremendous progress this year. They set goals and worked hard with Mrs. Smith to achieve them. Hopefully all these young singers will continue to participate in the choral programs in the Hillsboro R-3 School District.
