board

Candidate filing for the Hillsboro R-3 School District closed on December 30, and the district has three citizens who have filed to run for three open seats. Erick Stephenson, Angie Oshia, and Beth Petry currently hold the three seats. Mrs. Petry has announced that she will complete her service on the Board this April. Her departure marks the end of 12 years of dedicated leadership and service to the district’s students, staff, and families.

In accordance with state statute, the Hillsboro R-3 School District will not hold an election for the three seats in April because the number of candidates equals the number of vacant seats.

For the 2026–2029 term, the following individuals have filed and will be sworn in this April:

Angie Oshia (Incumbent)

Erick Stephenson (Incumbent)

Tina Thebeau (New Member)

“We are grateful for the continued commitment of Mrs. Oshia and Mr. Stephenson, and we look forward to the perspective Tina Thebeau will bring to the Board,” said Dr. Jon Isaacson. “We also want to extend our thanks to Beth Petry. Her twelve years of service have been instrumental in the growth and success of our district.”

The new and returning board members will be officially sworn in at the Board of Education’s reorganization meeting on April 16, 2026, beginning their three-year terms.
