Planning to attend Jefferson College next year? Representatives from Jefferson College will be at HHS Sept. 22 and 23 to help seniors complete applications for the 2027 school year.
Homecoming Dance — Sept. 26th
The Homecoming Dance is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 7-10 p.m. at Hillsboro High School. Tickets are $20, with discounted tickets available for eligible Renaissance cardholders. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the door.
Manufacturing Day — Oct. 2nd
Students will have an opportunity to visit Jefferson College for Manufacturing Day. Students can explore careers in welding, precision machining technology and HVAC, see demonstrations and connect with local employers.

The Hillsboro R-3 Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25th, and travel along Business 21.
Friday will also be an early release day. All Hillsboro R-3 schools will dismiss three hours earlier than their normal dismissal times.
Planning to have a float or participate in the parade? Please complete the parade registration form provided in this post as soon as possible. Registration closes Sunday. You will also notice we have a map of the route.

So, we went through the latest Hillsboro High School Counseling Office newsletter for you. Here are four things parents and students should have on their radar right now.
1. Senior families, circle September 15th
If you have a senior, this is one meeting you'll want on your calendar.
Senior Parent Information Night is Tuesday, September 15th, at 6 p.m. in the Hillsboro High School Theatre. The Counseling Department, senior class sponsors and A+ coordinator will cover graduation requirements, important senior-year dates and deadlines, scholarships, financial aid and FAFSA, the A+ Program and the Parent Communication App.
In other words, if you've been wondering, "What do we need to be doing during senior year?" this is a good place to start.
2. College Fair brings 50+ schools together in one place 🎓
Students thinking about college have a big opportunity coming Thursday, September 17th.
Hillsboro High School students can attend the College Fair at Jefferson College, where representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities are expected.
Students can explore schools, majors and careers while talking directly with college representatives. The bus is scheduled to leave HHS at 8:30 a.m. and return around 10 a.m. Students need to have a parent sign them up through Infinite Campus.
And college representatives are coming to HHS, too. UMSL is scheduled to visit during lunch shifts on October 7, followed by Washington University on October 21 at 1 p.m.
3. ACT deadline approaching
Here's a date that's easy to miss: September 11th.
That's the registration deadline for the October 17th ACT. The next ACT listed in the Counseling Office newsletter is December 12, with a November 6 registration deadline.
If the ACT is part of your student's postsecondary plan, don't let that September 11th deadline sneak up on you.
4. Don't overlook scholarships and career opportunities
The Counseling Office maintains a scholarship spreadsheet and adds new opportunities as they are received. Students can also find scholarship information through their Google Classroom and morning announcements, and paper copies are available in the Counseling Office.
And not every opportunity is centered on a four-year university.
Manufacturing Day at Jefferson College is October 2nd and will give students an opportunity to explore careers through hands-on tours in Welding, Precision Machining Technology and HVAC, along with opportunities to connect with local employers. Jefferson College's Health Care Career Day follows on October 15th.

will be held on November 7, 2025 9am-1:30pm. The Vendor application window
is September 2, 2026 through October 30, 2026. Payment must be submitted
with the application to the Primary School Office.
The rental fee is $45.00 per 12ft booth. Please indicate on the
registration form if you need a table and/or electric. Vendors bringing their
own table must adhere to a maximum table length of 12 foot. Please note
that due to changes in booth size (14ft, 1 foot given on either side) exact
booth placement cannot be guaranteed from the past year.
The Primary Craft Fair is a community, family-friendly event. All
applications are subject to approval by the Primary Craft Fair
Chair/Committee. Applications that seek to sell or advertise items that are
obscene to minors or pervasively indecent/vulgar will be denied. Crafts,
antiques, home sales products, artwork, Christmas ornaments, or anything
else may be sold as long as it does not include alcohol, tobacco, firearms or
any other types of weapons.

The dance is semi-formal and tickets are available in the Infinite Campus school store. Tickets are $20 per household, so only 1 ticket is needed for each adult no matter how many girls in the household.

Optional tee shirts are available for pickup at the dance, but they must be ordered before September 20 at 11:59 pm.

Mrs. Towers class adopted a dairy cow named Rosey. She lives on Knebel Farm in Illinois.

Breakfast & Lunch Prices for 2026-2027 are as follows: A full student breakfast (K–12) is $2.45, with reduced breakfast priced at $0.30. Lunch prices vary by grade level, with K–6 meals at $3.45 and grades 7–12 meals at $3.70. Reduced-price lunches remain at $0.40. Students may also purchase individual items such as an entrée a side, or milk.
Adult meals are also available in all cafeterias. The cost is $2.95 for breakfast and $4.75 for lunch. Flyers with these updated prices are posted in each of our cafeterias, but we encourage families to review them in advance to help plan for the school year.

We know family schedules are busy. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Compass Health Network to bring its Mobile Dental Program to Hillsboro R-3 schools this September.
Interested families can sign up for their child to receive dental services right at school, including:

It’s convenient for families and gives students access to important dental care without having to leave school.

Juniors & Sophomores: Schedule Pick-Up Thursday 9am-Noon
Freshmen: Orientation is Thursday from 6pm-7:30pm
Open House: Tuesday, August 18th: 4pm-6pm
