Take a look at what our student “Mower Crew” is up to this summer. It consists of students Adam Ruiz, Landon Gonzales, Will Luster, and James Kimmel-Cave. They spent some time making the Elementary entrance look a little nicer. They planted 25 new plants and used two boulders to give the area some curb appeal. The boys want to thank Haegele Nursery for assisting with the design and giving the school a nice discount!

🌎🐾 Small boxes… BIG thinking
Take a look inside Mrs. Stephanie Lehman’s 2nd grade classroom at HIllsboro R-3 Elementary, where students are bringing animal habitats to life.

From deserts to forests to oceans, these students are using shoeboxes, paint, and a whole lot of creativity to show how animals live and survive in different environments.
It is hands-on learning and imaginations at work.

Every school day starts and ends with them.

Our bus drivers are often the first smile our students see in the morning and the last wave they get in the afternoon. They safely transport what matters most to us, and they do it with care, patience, and consistency that doesn’t go unnoticed.
On Bus Driver Appreciation Day, we want to say THANK YOU to our Hillsboro R-3 drivers for everything you do for our kids… every route, every mile, every day. 💙🚌

Due to the potential for changing weather conditions, Hillsboro R-3 School District will implement a 3-hour early release on Monday, April 27, 2026.

This proactive decision is being made to ensure that all students and staff are able to arrive home safely before conditions worsen. Due to the geographic size of the district, bus routes require several hours to complete, and releasing early allows us to avoid travel during potentially hazardous conditions.

Please note: There will be no afternoon Early Childhood classes on Monday.

Any additional changes or cancellations related to activities and athletics will be communicated tomorrow.

We understand that schedule changes can be challenging, and we appreciate your flexibility as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Please continue to monitor district communication channels for any additional updates.

Thank you for your support.

💙 It is hard to tell who was cheering louder…
Today at the Jefferson County Special Olympics in De Soto, our athletes gave it their all. But just as powerful were the smiles, the high-fives, and the pure joy shared between competitors and their buddies.
This was not just about events or medals. It was about encouragement, connection, and celebrating every moment together.
You could see it in every race, every cheer, every hug. A reminder that sometimes the biggest wins are not measured at the finish line.

Hillsboro FCCLA is hosting a Spring Cupcakes decorating class for students in grades 3–6, and this one is going to fill up fast.

Students will learn how to decorate 6 different spring-themed cupcakes and take them home to show off (or eat 😄). The class is led by our FCCLA and Culinary students, so it is a great chance to learn from the pros.
