The Hillsboro R-3 School District has officially opened the search for its next Hillsboro High School Principal, seeking an energetic and visionary leader to guide the school beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. The district is looking for a dynamic administrator who will build on Hillsboro’s strong academic and community traditions. The selected candidate will oversee a comprehensive high school program and lead a dedicated team of educators committed to preparing students for success academically, socially, and emotionally.

The position is critical to advancing the district’s Comprehensive Strategic Improvement Plan (CSIP), which prioritizes student empowerment, staff support, community engagement, and operational excellence. The principal will serve as a key driver of these goals, shaping school culture and instructional priorities, strengthening staff collaboration, and deepening community partnerships.

Responsibilities and Expectations

The new principal will provide instructional and organizational leadership for grades 9–12, directing academic programming, student services, staff development, safety practices, and school operations. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Fostering a culture of high expectations, respect, and belonging

  • Overseeing curriculum design, assessments, and master scheduling

  • Leading professional learning and staff coaching

  • Managing building budgets, staffing, and resources

  • Promoting student well-being and positive school climate

  • Using data to guide continuous improvement

  • Communicating effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners

The district is seeking a leader who demonstrates emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to inspire staff and students. Collaborative leadership and a commitment to academic excellence and equity are essential.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration (Doctorate preferred), valid Missouri Secondary Administration Certification, and at least three years of successful leadership or administrative experience, preferably at the high school level. Candidates should also show a record of instructional leadership, data-driven decision-making, and meaningful community engagement.

Application Timeline and Hiring Process

The district is accepting applications through November 29, 2025. Superintendent Dr. Jon Isaacson will recommend a finalist to the Board of Education, with the anticipated hiring date in late December. The selected candidate will officially assume the role on July 1, 2026, following the retirement of current principal Mark Groner.
